There is an American Turquoise cabochon that features pyrite matrix and "Birds Eye" or "Water Web" matrix which measures approx. 15mm X 17mm. There is one cab that sky blue with just a tiny bit of Pyrite matrix which measures approx. 14 X 20 mm. These stones were hand cut by John Hartman of Durango Silver Company. The Morenci Turquoise Mine was form Southern Arizona and produced some of the finest Turquoise. This mine was a major producer of natural gemstones that were used commercially for years in predominately Southwestern and Native American Jewelry. The Morenci Turquoise mine was famous for its beautiful true blue Turquoise accompanied by its beautiful Iron Pyrite Matrix. Nothing is more beautiful than sky blue Turquoise with silver colored matrix and this what Morenci Turquoise is so famous for. The mine produce a wide variety of Turquoise from clear sky blue, pyrite matrix material to spider web to aqua blue green stones. Throughout the years gems from this mine were a staple in American Indian Jewelry made by all tribes including Navajo, Zuni and more.
