This is a collection of nine beautiful Morenci Turquoise cabochons with the same coloration which makes for a nice matching set of Morenci Turquoise Jewelry. This is a mixed group of Morenci cabochons with good coloration a nice matrix, some of which is iron pyrite.
This is a very nice lot of Morenci Turquoise Gemstones. We cut these stones several years ago and have had them sitting in our vault. Morenci Turquoise was in use until they stopped mining it in the late 1970’s. These Morenci Cabochons measure 11mm x 13mm to 12mm x 19mm and they weigh a total of 76.3 carats. These are priced at $7.00 per carat and that is a lot price.
The Morenci Turquoise Mine was form Southern Arizona and produced some of the finest Turquoise. This mine was a major producer of natural gemstones that were used commercially for years in predominately Southwestern and Native American Jewelry. The Morenci Turquoise mine was famous for its beautiful true blue Turquoise accompanied by its beautiful Iron Pyrite Matrix. Nothing is more beautiful than sky blue Turquoise with silver colored matrix and this what Morenci Turquoise is so famous for. The mine produce a wide variety of Turquoise from clear sky blue, pyrite matrix material to spider web to aqua blue green stones. Throughout the years gems from this mine were a staple in American Indian Jewelry made by all tribes including Navajo, Zuni and more. When you look at old pawn or vintage Turquoise jewelry you will find a ton of beautiful natural Morenci Turquoise.
