Here is a true Southwestern Jewelry classic. This handmade Vintage Navajo Silver Buckle by legendary Navajo Jewelry artist Roger Skeets Sr. is the epitome of a perfect collectors piece. This beautiful Concho Style Navajo Silver Buckle is made of heavy silver that was pounded out of an ingot of silver. This is rare to find in modern silver jewelry. The stamp work and repose work on this nice sized western belt buckle is very clean and pristine. You can tell that this piece of Vintage Jewelry art has not been worn much if at all. This vintage Navajo silver buckle was purchase in the Fort Defiance Collection by John Hartman from Francis Griswald in 1982 and has been in our vault ever since. Most of us who appreciate Navajo silver and learn what we can about the history and today’s artists who carry on the tradition of handmade silver are usually fascinated with important names. Roger Skeets Sr. was one of those instrumental smiths in the development of a market and style for both Zuni and Navajo jewelry. He worked very closely with Zuni Trader C.G. Wallace and made thousands of pieces of silver for the legendary Trader. You would be the envy of most Native American Jewelry collectors at the next event you attend wearing this Concho style silver belt buckle, and everyone will know it is a Skeets original. Own a piece Navajo silver history. American Indian handmade, this Sterling Silver Buckle features the Native American Jewelry hallmark “RS”.
