Deep Bisbee Blue Turquoise Cabochons
John and Estell Hartman began collecting rare Bisbee Turquoise
when they were in the teens, in the late 1960's, in fact, John bought
Estell's first piece of Bisbee Jewelry for her from his Taos Indian friend when she was 15 years old - it was a Bisbee Turquoise Bracelet with
about 75% chocolate brown smoky matrix with pools of medium blue Turquoise. Bisbee Turquoise was scarce then!
John and Estell went on with their lives, got married in 1972 and by 1975 had a major collection of Bisbee rough, Bisbee cabochons and Bisbee
Turquoise Jewelry. They became Jewelers and it was a no brainer that they would have rarely seen Turquoise Jewelry if they used the rare
Bisbee Turquoise cabochons in it. So, it only made good since for them to continue hunting this Turquoise.
It is 2014 now, John is 61 years old and has purchased several major collections of Bisbee Turquoise including the balance of the Turquoise
from Bob Mathews and Cecil Mickelson who once owned the only rights to mine Turquoise at the Bisbee Mine.
John and Dillon still cut their rare Bisbee Turquoise cabochons today on a small scale and offer them to collectors and the trade on
