When John Hartman purchased the Fort Defiance Trading Post collection from Francis Griswold in 1982, this Silver Buckle came to him incomplete as it was a example piece made for Francis to display in the Fort Defiance Trading Post. John added the Royston Turquoise Gemstone and the Belt Buckle hardware so it can be worn. This is a historic American Indian Jewelry item and it comes with its original carved stone that it was cast into by the Navajo Native American Indian that originally made the piece in the late 1940’s to the early 1950’s. This Navajo Sandcast Belt Buckle is a one of a kind piece of American Frontier History that can be worn and then put on display with its partner.
