This unique Mountain Silver Band was handmade by John Hartman of Durango Silver Company. It was inspired by the Rocky Mountains where he has lived most of his life and for this reason John calls this his Rocky Mountain Silver Band. It is made by hammering the Silver into sandstone and then sawing the mountain design, he then splits the two sides of the ring and overlays them onto a back plate of Silver - this creates a deep groove where you see the mountain design. John lives near Mesa Verde country where he finds his sandstone that is hard enough to enable him to hammer the texture into the Silver. He uses several techniques to get different variations and patterns in the Silver.
