High-Grade Silver and Gold Ore from S.W. Colorado
The Silver and Gold in Quartz that we use in our Jewelry is from Southwest Colorado. John Hartman has collected high-grade Silver and Gold ore for over 30 years from this area. Most of what we see today was taken out in the 1920's -1960's. Typically, it is rare to find highly concentrated deposits of Gold and/or Silver which is known as high-grade. When a minor ran into high-grade, he would hide it and take it out daily in his lunch box or underwear.
The way I used to get my high-grade was to hang out at the bars in Silverton and Ouray to find the minors that were getting the high-grade. When the mines shut down in the 1970’s that all came to an end. I have sat on my collection since.
We have a lot of historic ore that came from the Robert Dwyer Collection who was the first Sherriff in this area, Robert had a colorful life, was shot by a prisoner and and was responsible for keeping order through the big haydays of the Silverton Colorado mining boom.
We also have a large collection of high-grade Gold Ore from the Blackstone collection. H.W. Blackstone was a conductor on the Silverton Train, on his layovers he went door to door hunting antiques and Silverton ore.
We have made and sold Silver and Gold Ore Jewelry since the early 1970’s and will always have a few unique items for sale in the future. Check back from time to time and we may have something you might like. Also Join our Mailing List and we will keep you posted of what we are up to next.
